Abstract
pod borer, maruca testulalis is the important pest attacking more than 40 host plant including mungbean. The objective of this study was to determine the resistance level of mungbean genotypes against M. testulalis. A total of 27 mungbean genotypes were used as treatment. Planting dates was arranged in such a way to synchronize the flowering time of 27 mungbean genotypes. A pairs of four days emerged adult M. testulalis were infested into each plant at flowering time for two days. The result showed that the difference of mungbean genotypes were significancy affected pod and seed damage intensity. Damage intensity of pod ranged from 2.9 – 38.5%, the lowest was found on genotype number 15 and the highest was found on Vima 1. However, damage intensity of seed ranged from 0.7 – 13.9%, the lowest was found on genotype number 15 and the highest was found on Vima 1, followed by genotype number 24. Based on the choice method, there were found four genotypes categorized as resistant, namely genotypes number 1, 2, 15, and 19. Seed weight varied from 10-23.6 gr/plant. In conclusion, genotypes number 1, 2, 15, and 19 were resistant against pod borer. The resistance of these mungbean genotypes was non-preference to feed by pod borer.
