Abstract
Study of the potential of spices plants in the Kerinci Seblat National Park area especially in the Madapi Forest was conducted to find out the number and types of the plants in the Madapi Forest as well as its abundance. The method used in this research was a survey using proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The size of the observation plot used was 20mx20m. The number of observation plots was 80 plots. Based on observations, it was found 13 types of spices plants from 10 families, mostly dominated by Zingiberaceae. The abundance value of the plants was low (small). Most types of spices plants in Madapi Forest grew in a clustered distribution pattern. The most spices plant species found in the pine stand area and the least was in the candlenut area.
