Diversity of Leaf Litter Dwelling Arthropods in Secondary Forest Area University of Bengkulu Campus
Last modified: 2022-09-03
Abstract
University sites are generally used as conservation areas in many countries. A study was aconducted in University of Bengkulu campus in May 2022 to determine the diversity of arthropod species. The samples were collected from soil and litter taken randomly in the secondary forest area at University of Bengkulu. A total of five locations were assigned for sampling within which leaf litter were taken and placed in Berlese funnel to collect arthropods. The collected arthropods were grouped into eleven order. A total of 314 individuals arthropods of eleven order were collected from all samples. The most dominant group are acarina that have two hunderd thirty three individuals. The results indicate moderate diversity with an index value of 1.18, medium species richness with an index value of 2.95, moderate evenness with an index value of 0.41, and moderate dominance with an index value of 0.56 in the habitat. UNIB secondary forest is being habituated and is still in the category of developing ecosystem. It is estimated that the number of species and populations will increase over time
